Traditionally, there was just one known toponym of Nubia before the Fifth Dynasty, tA sty. In this paper, it will be suggested that the term tA nHs, which appears on the Palermo Stone, is another toponym referring to Nubia, but different from tA sty. It will also be argued that tA nHs has a geographic meaning, in contrast with nHs.y.w, which has ethnic connotations.
